We were told that we were going to be given a Good Design Award. But we don’t know what level (Red, Green, Gold, etc.) until the 29th of June. Regardless, we’ll be bringing home an Arturo Luz trophy—a win!

One million Filipinos are profoundly Deaf. Most people think that the solution for them is captions; just turn on the subtitles. What most people don’t know is that only 2% of children born deaf have access to formal education. So the majority of the world’s profoundly deaf cannot read; captions are of little use to them.

So we developed a solution that lets people with hearing (and/or visual) disabilities access educational videos (and entertainment too).

Our app identifies what the viewer is watching, then delivers a corresponding sign language interpretation—synchronized to what the viewer is watching.
